This is my first time to visite this place. Namely, Benowo Landfill.
Benowo landfill is a place to treatment and also dumping waste. Actually, if we
want to survey in this place must have a permit that I think so complicated,
haha. Fortunately, I came here because i had project for DKP Surabaya City. Okay,
Focus. Benowo landfill is managed by PT. Sumber Organic and located in Kelurahan Romo Kalisari, Kecamatan Benowo
and Kelurahan Sumber Rejo, Kecamatan Pakal, Surabaya City. Benowo
Landfill has large 37,4 ha and divided into 5 zone. Now, 3 zones that are still
used, because 2 others are not used and filled with waste.
Every day, waste come into in
Benowo Landfill nearly reach 1400 tons. Even though, DKP and Benowo landfill
have contract where the waste come into landfill just 1000 tons. So, DKP must
pay more fee. Dump/ compactor truck come into landfill must be pondered with
weighbridge first. Then, waste can dump in the empty zone and compacted.
Benowo landfill collaborates with 300 scavengers to minimize
waste that come into landfill. They start working at 05.00-17.00. Most types of
waste taken that plastic waste. Benowo landfill has treatment plant
namely Landfill Gas Powerplant (LGP). Gasification process utilize methan gas
from landfill, then flowed with pipa to the LGP. Electricity produced from this
plant 2 MW and selling to PLN. For leachate treatment, it uses waste water
treatment plant.
